IMPAIRED OPERATION

On July 11, 2024, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service attempted to make a traffic stop in the district of Tsi Snaihne. The vehicle failed to stop for police. 

 


Two AMPS patrol cars were involved in the traffic stop attempt. While fleeing, the suspect vehicle and a patrol car made contact with each other. The suspect vehicle then departed the roadway into the ditch. Police rendered first aid assistance, on scene. The suspect and officer were not seriously injured. The suspect was transported to a local hospital and released.

 


The suspect has been charged with: 

  • Section 320.13(1) – Dangerous operation CCC
  • Section 320.17 – Flight from peace officer CCC
  • Section 320.14(B) – Operation while impaired over 80 CCC

 

A  court appearance is scheduled for August 12, 2024. This incident remains under investigation.
