AMPS SUPPORTS TREE OF HOPE TO HONOUR MMIWG2S

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) is honoured to participate in the inaugural Tree of Hope event, organized by the Akwesasne Family Wellness Program, Cornwall Police, and the City of Cornwall. This event aims to honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S) while bringing the community together to remember and reflect.

 

The Tree of Hope serves as a powerful symbol of resilience, remembrance, and the shared commitment to justice, healing, and change. Each light on the tree represents a life lost, a family’s strength, and a collective call for action.

 

We invite the community to join us on December 5, 2024, from 6–7 p.m. at Lamoureux Park in Cornwall for this meaningful gathering. To further honour loved ones impacted by violence, AMPS has set up a tree for red dress ornaments, symbolizing remembrance and hope. Ornaments are available at the AMPS front desk, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
