AKWESASNE MOHAWK POLICE SEIZE $120,000 IN COCAINE
The Joint Investigation Team of the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service has concluded a lengthy drug investigation, culminating with a search warrant execution and cocaine seizure.
On December 20, 2023, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Akwesasne Mohawk Police with the assistance of an Ontario Provincial Police K9, entered a residence on Kawehno:ke (Cornwall Island) to search for cocaine, currency, and cell phones. The search warrant (adhering to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act of Canada) also granted authorization for police to search three vehicles on the property.
The search of the property, which lasted over an hour, resulted in the seizure of United States currency, anabolic steroids, an imitation handgun and over two kilograms of cocaine valued at $120,000.
As a result of the investigation, Carrie A. Delormier, 37, and Brandon A. Thompson, 36, both of Akwesasne, face charges with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking anabolic steroids
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Possession of an imitation firearm
An arrest warrant has been issued for the arrest of Brandon A. Thompson.
