UPDATE ON COVID-19 OUTBREAK AT TSIIONKWANONHSO:TE LTC FACILITY
In our ongoing effort to keep the community updated with the latest on the COVID-19 outbreak at the Tsiionkwanonhso:te Long Term Care Facility, we regret to inform the community that a second resident has passed. The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne sends its deepest condolences to the family for their loss. With this announcement, the COVID-related death increases to two (2). Under Ontario Health, a death is reported as a COVID-19 death, whether or not COVID-19 was determined to be a contributing or underlying cause of death.
Eastern Ontario Health Unit also made us aware of three (3) new active cases at Tsiionkwanonhso:te.
The current statistics for cases at the facility are as follows:
Total Cases of Tsiionkwanonhso:te residents: 13 residents
Total Resolved residents: 5 (2 fatalities, 3 recovered)
Total active residents: 8 active (as of January 7, 2021)
Total Cases of Staff at Tsiionkwanonhso:te: 10 staff
Total resolved staff: 5 (0 fatalities, 5 recovered)
Total active staff: 5 active (as of January 8, 2021)
Total active cases within Tsiionkwanonhso:te (staff and residents): 13 active cases
MCA extends its best wishes for a speedy recovery to all those infected, as well as appreciation to those isolating and quarantining to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. We also extend our sincerest appreciation to our frontline workers and long-term care staff who have remained diligent and dedicated during this most trying time.
