MCA RESUMPTION PLAN FOLLOWING ONTARIO STAY-AT-HOME ORDER
On January 12, 2021, the Province of Ontario declared a second State of Emergency and issued a “stay-at-home” order effective January 14, 2021 at 12:01 a.m. for at least 28 days. This order means that all persons in Ontario must remain in their home except for essential purposes. Going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing health care services, exercising, and carrying out employment responsibilities is allowed. Ontario has now also limited outdoor gatherings to a maximum of (5) five people.
This order has had a significant impact on current operations of the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne. The tentative timeline for resumption of MCA operations has now been delayed in order to comply with provincial standards. Employees will begin a staggered transition back to their workstations on February 8, 2021 and MCA offices will resume normal operations on February 16, 2021.
Please note that these timelines are subject to change based on the number of positive cases of COVID-19.
Note: These directives do not apply to all MCA operations.
