THIRD PILLAR DONATES TO THE MOHAWK COUNCIL OF AKWESASNE
In March 2021, Faiz Vaid of Third Pillar, reached out to the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne to find out what goods they could provide to Akwesasne that would most benefit our community members. The Third Pillar is a Toronto based non-profit organization operated by Muslims whose focus is on alleviating the pressures of poverty in their local community by routinely providing donations to charities on the ground in Toronto and by making deliveries to local shelters. The group follows the Third Pillar of Islam which is to give a percentage of your profitable wealth to those in need.
On Sunday, April 11, 2021, Mohawk Council of Akwesasne representatives were able to meet the Third Pillar representatives and receive the goods generously provided by their organization.
The picture shows just the last cartload of what was delivered. The food and other supplies donated will benefit Akwesasne community members who are clients of the Food Security Program and the Residential Healing Program. The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne greatly appreciates the donation made by Third Pillar.
