ONTARIO STAY-AT-HOME ORDER ENDS, PUBLIC HEALTH MEASURES REMAIN IN PLACE

Current restrictions include limiting indoor gatherings to households only and outdoor gatherings to up to five people, subject to limited exceptions, maintaining a cap of 25 percent capacity for essential retail where only certain goods are permitted to be sold, restricting non-essential retail to curbside pickup and delivery only. Phase One of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen will begin as soon as 60% of all eligible Ontario residents have received their first COVID-19 vaccine dose. Phase One will see the resumption of outdoor activities with small crowds, retail stores can reopen (with restrictions), and outdoor dining can begin (with restrictions). Should the 60% threshold be met, the number of active COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and people in ICU due to COVID-19 will also be taken into consideration. The Province will remain in Phase One for at least 21 days to evaluate any impacts on public health and Ontario health systems. If at the end of 21 days the trends remain positive, Ontario will then move to the next phase in the rollout plan.

 

With the current trend in public health, and the healthcare systems, Ontario is on track to begin the rollout of Phase One on June 14, 2021. Ontario will confirm closer to the expected start date of Step One.
