AKWESASNE HEATING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM 2021-2022 UPDATE

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is once again pleased to provide the heating assistance program for the 2021-2022 winter season to our community members who are registered under the Akwesasne Band Membership Code and residing in any of the three districts (Kana:takon, Kawehno:ke, and Tsi Snaihne) and in the City of Cornwall. 

 

We are excited to announce that there was an increase for the 2021-2022 winter season, in which MCA allotted an extra $200 for Akwesasronon 59 years of age or less and an extra $300 for elders age 60 and older. Recipients in the age 59 and under category were provided $700 and elders received $1100.

 

This year continued to be a challenge for Akwesasne due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic as we remained under emergency measures, and as we struggled to get through this together as a community.  The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne continues to provide services to our community members in which we hope we can make each of your lives and those of your families a little less stressful.
