ONTARIO DROPS MOST MASK MANDATES
MANDATES STILL IN PLACE FOR LTC’S, RETIREMENT HOMES, MCA/AMBE BUILDINGS
As of June 11, 2022, most of Ontario’s mask mandates have expired, with the exception of long-term care (LTC) and retirement homes. Masks are still recommended in high-risk congregate living settings, such as shelters, group homes, medical clinics, and hospitals.
While masking requirements are expiring, organizations may implement their own policies for mask requirements. The public is encouraged to continue to wear a mask if they:
- Feel it is right for them
- Are at high risk for severe illness
- Are recovering from COVID-19 symptoms
- Are a close contact to someone with COVID-19
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne (MCA) and the Ahkwesahsne Mohawk Board of Education (AMBE) have elected to continue the mask mandate through the month of June. Masks will continue to be required for all community members and staff when entering any MCA or AMBE facility, building, or school. The mask mandate will be reassessed on June 30th. The community and MCA/AMBE staff will be notified of any changes in the mask mandate after reassessment.
