MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE TO JAMES SMITH CREE NATION

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is shocked, saddened and tremendously sympathetic over news of the James Smith Cree Nation tragedy this past weekend. This senseless tragedy has shaken all of Indian country as we all know how such profound loss and violent circumstances would impact all of our own families and First Nation communities.

The community of Akwesasne is sending heartfelt condolences to the people of the James Smith Cree Nation, and those in the surrounding towns in Saskatchewan where additional victims have lost their lives or been injured.  Though we are separated by hundreds of miles, Akwesasronon are supporting you in mind and spirit.

May your grief be comforted by the strong bonds of your community members, the power of your culture and traditions, and the widespread support from around the world.   We are all thinking of you. Sken:nen/Peace.
