MCA HOSTING COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS ON BORDER CROSSING RIGHTS AND THE JAY TREATY
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is hosting a series of engagement sessions to discuss Akwesasne’s rights to border crossing and the Jay Treaty.
The purpose of these sessions is to discuss the terms within the Jay Treaty and how rights to border crossing could be recognized. The dialogue will guide the drafting of recommendations to Canada on how they should implement inherent Border Crossing Rights, as it aligns with their “Implementing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act”.
