DOH’S LAND-BASED HEALING DONATES TO UNITY STREET HELP ASSOCIATION
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Health (DOH) Land-Based Healing Program donated supplies to the Unity Street Help Association, a non-profit organization operating out of Akwesasne and Cornwall to assist those who are homeless and less fortunate.
Land-Based Healing Program Coordinator Brandon David donated items that will help those who are homeless, or in need, with staying warm and safe. The Unity Street Help Association received:
- 50 tobacco ties
- 50 winter hats
- 65 hoodies
- 10 sleeping bags
- First aid kit
The Land-Based Healing Program would like to acknowledge the following individuals in assisting with this project:
- Norman King – Akwesasne Mohawk Police Services (AMPS)
- Patrick “Magoo” Cook – Mohawk Council of Akwesasne
- Marcey Thompson – Mohawk Council of Akwesasne
- Tina L. Point – Unity Street Help Association
The Land-Based Healing Program will continue to collaborate with the Unity Street Help Association to assist Akwesasronon wherever they are, be it on the territory of Akwesasne, in the city of Cornwall, or in the surrounding areas.
