AKWESASNE MOHAWK POLICE INVESTIGATES RECENT ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE COLLISIONS 071123

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service would like to inform the community that over the past few weeks, police have responded to vehicle collisions involving all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and golf carts. In the investigations, both drivers and passengers were not wearing proper safety equipment which resulted in serious injury.

An ATV (including 3-wheelers, 4-wheelers, side-by-sides, etc.) are meant to be driven off road; when driven on the roadway all rules of the road will apply. Driving an ATV or golf cart on the roadway is not meant for an alternative means of travel.

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police will continue to keep our roads safe for all drivers and pedestrians. Please obey all the rules of the road and have your all-terrain vehicles registered and insured.
