AKWESASNE MEMBERSHIP BOARD ELECTION & NOMINATIONS
The Akwesasne Membership Board has requested that an election be held for all positions on the board.

Nominations will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the following locations: Tsi Snaihne Recreation Center; Kana:takon School; and Tri-District Elders Lodge.
Pursuant with Section 6 of the Akwesasne Membership Board Election and By-Election Regulations, to be an eligible candidate for the Akwesasne Membership Board, one must:
- Be at least twenty-five (25) years of age on the nomination date; and
- Be a member; and
- Must be Onkwehonwe and at least one (1) of their natural parents must be a member of Akwesasne; and
- Must reside in the Territory of Akwesasne for at least ten (10) consecutive years prior to their nomination; and
- The candidate for Board Member from a district, must reside in that district for at least one (1) year immediately prior to their nomination; and
- Must not have been dismissed from the Membership Board in the last four (4) years prior to their nomination; and
- Must consent and provide criminal record information at least fifteen (15) days prior to the election; and
- Must not have been convicted of an indictable offence in Canada or a felony in the United States within ten (10 years) prior to their nomination.
An election, if needed, will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Advance polls will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 and on Monday, October 2, 2023 by appointment only.
