FLOODING UPDATES – August 9/10, 2024

FLOODING UPDATE – 1 p.m. August 10, 2024

Flood Warning – The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe has issued a flood warning today. Anyone residing along the river should be on alert for rising water levels and evacuate if necessary. Please adhere to evacuation orders for your safety. The St. Regis River in Hogansburg and the Helena Road area are of high concern and Helena Road residents are advised to evacuate.

Akwesasne Mohawk Police Updates:

Boaters: Beware of debris in our rivers as the storm has caused many items to break from docks and are floating beneath the surface. Docks have also become loose and are floating down the rivers. Drive boats slowly and be on alert for any items adrift that can cause damage to your boat or create a risk of injury.

Chapman Road was temporarily closed but water is receding in that area. There is still a great amount of flooded areas and standing water throughout Akwesasne. Please drive with caution.

All roads in the northern portion are currently open.

AMPS has been receiving many calls for basement flooding. Thank you to all the volunteers assisting others and the Hogansburg-Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department for their community assistance.

If you have an emergency on the northern portion please call Central Dispatch at 613-575-2000. If you have an emergency on the southern portion please call 518-358-9200.
