AKWESASNE MOHAWK POLICE ARREST INDIVIDUAL ON WARRANT OF APPREHENSION
On August 26, 2024, Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service arrested Roland Wade Francis, age 46 of Akwesasne, on a Warrant of Apprehension. AMPS received a tip about his possible whereabouts and launched an investigation, which led to his arrest. Akwesasne Mohawk Police notified the Provincial ROPE (Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement) Squad for assistance. The ROPE squad, a multi-agency team that locates and apprehends parolees unlawfully at large in the province of Ontario, collaborated with the AMPS to make the arrest.
The ROPE Squad specializes in apprehending individuals who:
- Escape from secure custody;
- Escape from or walk away from non-secure custody;
- Becomes unlawfully at large by violating bail, parole, or intermittent sentence terms.
The ROPE Squad also assist other police services with locating and apprehending high-risk dangerous offenders.
Following his arrest, Roland Wade Francis was transported directly back to a detention facility to complete his in-custody sentencing.
