STABBING INCIDENT IN KANA:TAKON

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service have arrested and charged a 14-year-old youth with aggravated assault stemming from an incident that occurred in the early evening of October 31, 2024. 

 

At approximately 7:30 PM, police received a report of a victim with a knife wound in the upper body area. The victim was in the area of First Street in Kana:takon (St. Regis). The Akwesasne Mohawk Police and Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance immediately arrived on scene and performed first aid. The victim was transported to a local hospital and then airlifted to the University of Vermont Medical Center with serious injury. The victim is expected to recover. 

 

Police learned that the crime scene was in the vicinity of the Kana:takon School parking lot. The charged youth cannot be named pursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act. 

 

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service continues to investigate this incident and is currently being assisted by the Burlington Police Department (Vermont).
