Do you understand Service Canada’s Old Age Security Programs?
The Old Age Security (OAS) Program is a monthly payment for seniors aged 65 and older who meet Canadian legal status and residence requirements.
Guaranteed Income Support (GIS) – If you live in Canada and have a low income, you may be eligible for this top up to your OAS. You must declare all foreign income (US SSA, or other) to determine your eligibility.
Allowance – If you are aged 60 to 64 years old and your spouse or common law partner is receiving OAS, you may be eligible for this benefit.
Allowance for the Survivor – If you are aged 60 to 64 years old and you are widowed, you may be eligible for this benefit.
The Akwesasne Area Management (AAMB) Board is offering two Service Canada program information sessions. A Service Canada representative will deliver an overview of the various supplement programs available related to the Old Age Security and Pension/Benefits Programs. After the presentation, the Service Canada representative will be available for an individualized session by request.
There will be two information sessions offered:
Tuesday September 18th 10:00 am to 11:30am at Kawehno:ke Rec
Wednesday September 19th 10:00am to 11:30am at AAMB Boardroom
