The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Health (DOH) is notifying the community on the rollout of the new Canadian Dental Care Plan. The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) will assist in easing financial barriers when accessing oral healthcare for eligible Canadian residents. Applications for the new dental care plan will open in phases, starting with seniors/elders.
The application schedule rollout for the Canadian Dental Care Plan will be as follows:
- Seniors aged 87 and above: Started December 2023
- Seniors aged 77 to 86: Started January 2024
- Seniors aged 72 to 76: Started February 2024
- Seniors aged 70 to 71: Started March 2024
- Seniors aged 65 to 69: Starting May 2024
- Adults with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate: Started June 2024
- Children under the age of 18: Started June 2024
- All remaining eligible Canadian residents: Starting 2025
To be eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan, you must meet the following:
- Not have access to dental insurance
- Have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000
- Be a Canadian resident for tax purposes
- Have filed your tax return in the previous year
If you have dental coverage through a provincial, territorial, or federal government social program, you can still qualify for the CDCP.
