ONKWE TRADITIONAL SONGS, STEPS SKILLS SERIES WEEK 4

Onkwe is inviting Akwesasronon families to connect through traditional singing, dancing, and hands-on learning. This program is designed for both youth and parents, creating a space where culture and community come together.

Led by Austin Thompson, each session will teach traditional songs and dances, while parents can choose to join in or take part in a rotating weekly workshop. At this week’s workshop, learn how to make beautiful beaded lanyards with instructor Azure Brown!

The program continues on Friday, February 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kawehno:ke Recreation Center. Snacks and refreshments will be provided, and there’s no limit on participants — the more, the merrier!

Whether you’re singing, dancing, or crafting, this program is all about sharing traditions and strengthening connections. For more information, contact Onkwe on Facebook or email onkweinc@gmail.com.

This initiative is proudly sponsored by the MCA Department of Community & Social Services.
