POTENTIAL HELICOPTER PATROLS IN AKWESASNE
The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) is informing the community that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has deployed Black Hawk helicopters to assist in patrolling the Canada-U.S. border, including along the St. Lawrence River. These helicopters will coordinate with law enforcement agencies, including AMPS patrol units when operating in the Akwesasne area.
The helicopters will be based in Ottawa and will patrol the Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick borders. Their presence does not indicate a specific threat but is part of broader border security efforts. While they may operate at low altitudes when necessary, efforts will be made to minimize noise disruptions. The RCMP has integrated these helicopters into its strategy alongside drones and surveillance towers for enhanced monitoring and are committed to local law enforcement partnerships.
AMPS remains committed to responding appropriately within our jurisdiction and ensuring community safety. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out, and we will work to address them.
