Mission
“Our Mission is to establish a healthcare environment where every person can access high-quality, culturally safe care, in which every person has a voice regardless of their background or situation.  We strive to blend traditional knowledge with contemporary medical practices, offering a wholistic approach to health and wellness that honors and incorporates our Mohawk cultural values, beliefs and traditions.”

Vision
“Our vision is to cultivate a healthier future through mutual engagement to reduce health inequities within our community, supported by a mosaic of perspectives devoted to outstanding health and wellness services.”

The Department of Health (DOH) is actively pursuing a comprehensive Strategic Plan aimed at enhancing healthcare services and outcomes within our community.

Research Projects

In collaboration with institutions like Queens University and McGill University, alongside our Research Advisory Board, we’re undertaking significant research projects focused on Insomnia, COVID-19, and Diabetes. These studies are important for developing targeted interventions and improving healthcare outcomes.

Health Care Equity

A cornerstone of our strategic plan is ensuring health care equity, striving to eliminate disparities in healthcare access and outcomes among different community segments, particularly focusing on vulnerable populations.

Recruitment and Retention of Health Care Professionals

Our efforts to grow our own healthcare professionals are pivotal to our strategy. By investing in the education and training of community members, we aim to increase the number of physicians, healthcare students and employees. This initiative is vital for building a sustainable, community-centered healthcare workforce.

Workplace Wellness

Recognizing the importance of a healthy and supportive work environment, we are committed to implementing workplace wellness programs. These initiatives are designed to support the physical and mental well-being of our healthcare professionals, ensuring they can provide the best possible care to our community
