ELDERBERRY U-PICK ON THOMPSON ISLAND
Thompson Island is inviting the community to pick elderberries on Thompson Island this Wednesday, August 19 and Thursday, August 20 between 9:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
The Elderberry U-pick, which is for Akwesasne residents only, will be limited to 10 people per day. Community members must provide their own transportation to Thompson Island and must also bring their own containers.
Please be advised that there is Stinging Nettle located on Thompson Island, therefore we are encouraging participants to wear long sleeves and pants.
Depending on the availability of the elderberries, an additional third day of picking may be added. Please be mindful when picking to never take all of the berries and to leave some for others that are coming.
If there is a high interest for picking the elderberries, participants names will be selected at random to ensure that the selection of the participants is fair.
