AKWESASNE MOHAWK POLICE EXECUTE DRUG WARRANT IN KANA:TAKON
On Friday, September 25, 2020, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Joint Investigation Team executed a drug warrant at a residence in the district of Kana:takon (St. Regis), QC.
The search warrant execution was the result of an extensive investigation into street-level drug trafficking of prescription medication. As a result of the investigation, police seized 114 capsules of a substance that tested positive for Opioids.
Joseph F. Oakes, 57, of Akwesasne was arrested and charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Mr. Oakes appeared before the courts in Valleyfield, Quebec, and was denied bail.
