Mission Statement
The Department of Economic Development is embarking on a path to attract clean business and industry to the Akwesasne Territory as a means to create local employment opportunities and stimulate the Akwesasne economy.
Department Goals
- To initiate a community campaign to “Support Akwesasne Businesses” by buying locally.
- To assist people who are expanding or starting a business.
- To assist the community to become more self-sufficient through the creation of a strong economic base.
- To increase tourism and promote Akwesasne to outside consumers and businesses.
- To offer Entrepreneurship informational courses.
- To manage the Peace Tree Mall and Stanley Island Cabins.
- To maintain partnerships with Akwesasne Area Management Board, Ohwista Corporation, Akwesasne Economic Development Agency and Iohahí:io Adult Education.
