AKWESASNE FAMILY WELLNESS PROGRAM ANNOUNCES NEW OUTREACH SUPERVISOR
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Family Wellness Program (AFWP) would like to extend a warm welcome to new Outreach Supervisor, Chantal Vachon. Chantal started in her new role on October 23, 2023.
Chantal holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master’s in Education, with a concentration in Counselling. She also holds a certificate in Operational Leadership.
Chantal began her career working front line in women shelters (Baldwin House, Nelson House, Maison d’Amitié-Ottawa). She also worked within the Eastern Ontario Resource Centers Programs Against Gender-Based Violence as a crisis and short-term counsellor and group facilitator. She went on to Program Management for a community support services team for seniors and adults with disabilities. For the last two years, Chantal has been in Program Management overseeing teams which offer support to women and children who have experienced or witnessed gender-based violence, transitional housing support, court support, poverty reduction, intake resource and referral, and youth support. She has 24+ years of experience working in non-profit organizations which support vulnerable clients (children, youth, women, and families, 13 years in team supervisory roles, and nine (9) years of Program Management.
Chantal prides herself on high-quality work, and in being honest and authentic with clients. She is passionate about helping individuals, working with a team, and assisting in the agency in which she’s employed thrive.
