AKWESASNE LEGAL AID CLINIC PILOT PROJECT
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne has received funding from the Ministry of the Attorney General to establish a Legal Aid Clinic Pilot Project. The project will provide assistance to victims of crime & their families in areas that are not provided for locally.
A legal aid coordinator will work with other agencies and programs, on and off-reserve, to establish a list of resources, programs, and services for community members. This may include outside agencies which assist victims of crimes; appointments with legal counsel and/or assisting with processing Skennen (Peace) Orders within the community of Akwesasne.
