AMPS SEIZED LOADED FIREARMS AND SUSPECT PURPLE FENTANYL
On the evening of November 9, 2020, just before 8:00 PM, Akwesasne Central Dispatch received a call of a motor vehicle collision in the area of River Road, Tsi Snaihne (Snye), QC.
Police attended the scene and spoke with the complainant who provided a vehicle description and reported the suspect vehicle fled prior to police arrival. The vehicle was later located in the U.S. portion of Akwesasne by the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle as it fled back into the Canadian portion of Akwesasne. Due to safety concerns that the vehicle may flee, police maintained visual observation and continued to follow the vehicle as backup police units arrived in the area in an attempt to perform an alternative stopping method.
As police continued to follow the vehicle at a distance, the vehicle increased speed, entered the ditch, and rolled over. Police immediately attended the scene and observed the driver attempting to exit the vehicle. The male driver was transported to the hospital when he was later released. Police searched the vehicle and located a loaded handgun, loaded shotgun, and a purple powdery substance believed to be purple heroin.
Jessee W. Gorrow, 32, of Akwesasne, has been charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a restricted firearm in a motor vehicle, Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, Dangerous operation, and Failure to remain at an accident scene. The purple substance seized was sent to Health Canada for further analysis.
