APPEAL DEADLINE FOR SEAWAY CLAIM REFERENDUM RESULTS

Any appeals to the Referendum on the St. Lawrence Seaway Claim must be submitted by 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023, to the Akwesasne Justice Department.

 

As per Seaway Claim Referendum Regulation 18.2;

“Every notice of appeal shall be accompanied by a statement affirmed before a Commissioner of Oaths presenting the allegations of fact and the documents relied on by the person bringing the appeal (the appellant) to establish one or more grounds of appeal in accordance with 17.1.”

 

“Any eligible referendum voter may appeal the referendum result:

1. a) on the ground that there was a corrupt practice in connection with the Referendum that materially affected the result of the Referendum; or
2. b) on the ground that there was a violation of this Regulation that materially affected the result of the Referendum.”
