CELEBRATING THE SEASON: WHITE CORN HARVESTING

On October 21, the MCA Land-Based Healing Program and the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe‘s Agricultural Program joined hands with Akwesasronon families for a “corn-ucopia” of activities! Under the warm autumn sun, we celebrated the beauty of the harvest season by picking white corn. 🌽

After our fruitful labor, we came together to braid the corn while sharing stories about the vital practices of planting and harvesting this cherished crop. Participants enjoyed delicious cornbread and refreshing strawberry drink — what a “berry” good time connecting with nature and each other!

Nia:wen to everyone who joined us! Don’t miss out on our next harvesting session on Wednesday, October 23 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the SRMT Agricultural Farm. For more info or to sign up, contact LaToya Rourke at 613-330-0468 or latoya.rourke@akwesasne.ca.
