DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH CELEBRATES NURSING WEEK 2020 NURSES: A VOICE TO LEAD – NURSING THE WORLD TO HEALTH
“Nursing is a progressive art such that to stand still is to go backwards.”
– Florence Nightingale
The Canadian Nurses Association celebrates National Nursing Week from the Monday to Sunday of Florence Nightingale’s birthday, May 12. The theme this year is Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Nursing the World to Health. This theme was developed by the International Council of Nurses to showcase how nurses are central to addressing a wide range of health challenges. The World Health Organization has designated 2020 as the Year of the Nurse and Midwife in honor of the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Health recognizes the passion, dedication, and professionalism of the nursing team who have and continue to maintain essential services for the Akwesasne community in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nia:wen for your service to Akwesasne!
