DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH ACKNOWLEDGES NURSE PRACTITIONER JANET BRANT FOR NATIONAL NURSE PRACTITIONERS’ WEEK
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Health (DOH) would like to acknowledge our Nurse Practitioner, Janet Brant, and wish her a Happy National Nurse Practitioner Week. National Nurse Practitioner Week is a national week of acknowledgment for all hardworking, dedicated, and caring Nurse Practitioners across the country.
National Nurse Practitioners’ Week is being celebrated November 12 – 18, 2023. This special week is held annually and offers a time to acknowledge and recognize the role of the Nurse Practitioner (NP). This week raises awareness of the exceptional care NPs provide to communities across Canada.
“Janet Brant’s exceptional service and care towards community members are recognized and celebrated by the Department of Health,” said Amber Montour, Director of the Department of Health. “She consistently goes above and beyond in providing medical care to every client, from newborns to elders. The DOH is privileged to have her as part of their team and is proud to acknowledge her during this year’s National Nurse Practitioners’ Week.”
NPs receive extended education and provide comprehensive primary care, including the ability to diagnose, assess, prescribe medications, monitor, and educate their patients on managing chronic illness and a host of other issues.
“Janet is a vital part of our team here in the Wholistic Health & Wellness Program’s Medical Clinic,” said Delia McDonald, Program Manager for the Wholistic Health & Wellness Program. “She can be counted on to provide exceptional care to our community members in a kind, caring, and culturally competent manner. I commend her for always taking that extra step to provide the best care possible.”
