DOH, DCSS ANNOUNCE RECOVERY CARE MOBILE CLINIC
Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s (MCA) Department of Health and Department of Community & Social Services (DCSS) is announcing a partnership with Recovery Care and Cornwall Community Hospital to provide a recovery care mobile clinic available to the Akwesasne community. The Recovery Mobile Care Clinic will be parked at the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena on Thursdays, beginning on May 19th.
The Cornwall Hospital/Recovery Care Mobile Clinic will be available for community members on Thursdays from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The mobile clinic will have a registered nurse (RN), an addictions counselor, and a physician (via telemedicine) on board, and set up the same as a medical office exam room. The staff onboard will provide support, education, and treatments for:
• Substance use
• Infectious disease education, testing, and treatment (HepC/HIV), and prophylaxis treatment (PEP/PREP)
• General wound care
• Some primary care (around infections)
• Smoking cessation including free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) supports for 30+ weeks
• Linkage to general community supports
• Other support services
Narcan will be available for distribution, as well as some personal care products (socks, boost, feminine hygiene products, protein bars, etc.)
