DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH WELCOMES NEW NURSE PRACTITIONER, OLIVIER LEMAY
The MCA Department of Health’s (DOH) Clinical Care Services (Sector 4) would like to extend a warm welcome to our new Nurse Practitioner (NP), Olivier Lemay. Olivier will be providing clinical care services at the Kawehno:ke Medical Clinic.
In response to the community’s request for weekend primary care services, Olivier will be offering Saturday clinics at the KMC starting in May 2025.
Olivier completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) at the University of Ottawa’s French Program. He went on to complete his master’s degree and Nurse Practitioner certificate in 2019 at the University of Toronto. Olivier is fully bilingual in both English and French. Olivier specializes in Adult Primary Care.
Olivier has been working in acute and primary care for the past five years, focusing on caring for marginalized populations and improving accessibility to vulnerable groups. As the first NP at Hawkesbury General Hospital, a medium-sized facility in Eastern Ontario, he has been instrumental in integrating NPs into the hospital’s care model. Olivier led the establishment of NP roles in the Emergency Department and helped to create the NP Rapid Referral Clinic, offering guidance and support to the hospital and new NPs in these positions.
Licensed in Nunavut, he also cares for marginalized populations in remote communities while also working as a Palliative Nurse Practitioner within his local community. Leading a team of three NPs, he is devoted to expanding the team and advancing initiatives that enhance care for those with limited access to healthcare.
Please join us in giving Olivier a warm welcome to the Department of Health and to the Akwesasne community!
