The First Nations Child and Family Services and Jordan’s Principle Settlement will provide $23.34 billion in compensation to eligible First Nations individuals and families. While not all claims are open yet, the first Claims Period is now open for the Removed Child Class and Removed Child Family Class.

Akwesasne Child & Family Services is offering assistance to community members interested in submitting claims. Stop by the Kanonhkwa’tsheri:io Health Facility Atrium on:

WHO CAN APPLY NOW?
• Removed Child Class: First Nations individuals removed from their homes by Child Welfare Authorities between April 1, 1991 – March 31, 2022 while they or their caregiving parent/grandparent lived on-reserve or in the Yukon.
• Removed Child Family Class: Parents, siblings, and grandparents of a Removed Child.

ADDITIONAL CLAIMS
Other claims (Jordan’s Principle & Essential Service Classes) are not open yet, but ACFS can help you prepare for when they do!

WHAT TO BRING
• Canadian Status Card
• Canadian mailing address
• Canadian bank account info (not required to submit a claim)
• Social Insurance Number (optional)
