FEDERAL INDIAN DAY SCHOOL CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT- UPDATE
The deadline to submit missing information for the Federal Indian Day School Class Action Settlement is June 27, 2025. Claimants with outstanding claims could be missing the following:
– Missing school name
– Missing school years
– Missing Representative information for estate or incapacitated persons
– Missing claimant and/or witness signature
– Missing supporting documentation for Levels 2-5
– Missing identification
– Missing personal narrative (required for Levels 2-5)
– Missing Sworn Declaration
– Missing Level Selection (Levels 1-5)
– Missing mailing address
– Missing date of birth
– Missing claimant name
The Canada Post strike ended on December 17, 2024, and mail processing and acceptance have resumed. However, the delivery of Settlement-related mail, like compensation cheques and missing information notices, may continue to be impacted for some time.
Claimants with outstanding claims must contact the Claims Administrator, Deloitte, to inquire about their claim and the missing information required to complete the process. Gowling WLG, Legal Counsel for the Class Action is still available to answer any questions or aid with outstanding claims.
The Akwesasne Rights and Research Office (ARRO) will be available by appointment only to assist with submitting missing information or contacting the administrator regarding missing information. Please call 613-575-2250 ext. 2132 to schedule an appointment.
