FEDERAL INDIAN DAY SCHOOL CLASS ACTION UPDATE TO COMMUNITY

On May 13th-May 15th, the Federal Indian Day School Class Action settlement was heard and court was adjourned pending a decision from the Federal Judge Justice Phelan.

At this time, no decision has been rendered regarding the Indian Day School class action. Once a decision is announced by the court, the class counsel Gowling WLG will be providing updates to class members and communities regarding next steps.

Community members are still encouraged to register with Gowling WLG to be added to their mailing list, so they may be informed when the decision is announced. Registration forms can be found online at www.indiandayschools.com under the “Contact and Register” button.

Community members can also pick up a form at the Mohawk Government Building #1, the Aboriginal Rights and Research Office at MG#2, and MCA Administration #1 Building in Kana:takon.
