FISH SURVEY NOTICE

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne would like to inform the community that the MCA Environment Program and the St. Lawrence River Institute will be doing fish surveys by gill and seine netting throughout the St. Lawrence River.

The surveys are expected to last throughout the next couple of weeks (September – October).

The surveys will help us determine the contaminant levels of fish in our river, and move forward in determining the safe fish consumption levels. For more information contact mca.environment@akwesasne.ca. 

Gill net buoys may be spotted along the river and we nicely ask the community to please leave them alone and do not disturb the nets. Nia:wen!
