MCA OFFERS CONDOLENCES ON COVID-RELATED PASSINGS

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Health is sharing the unfortunate news of two (2) community members passing due to COVID-19. We offer our sincerest condolences to the families and friends who have lost a loved one. There are no words that we can provide to lift the immense sorrow you are feeling at this time.

The two individuals that passed were under the jurisdiction of the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, and now account for MCA’s eleventh and twelfth reported COVID-related passing. This is a painful reminder that COVID-19 continues to be a serious and dangerous threat to our community’s overall health and safety.

The unfortunate and painful passings highlight the ongoing importance of following public health measures, and for all eligible individuals to get vaccinated. The COVID-19 vaccines are effective and important tools that we have to see the end of the pandemic and have proven safe at preventing severe illness that may result in hospitalization, or possibly death.
