MCA REPORTS ONE NEW POSITIVE CASE OF COVID-19
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Community Health Program reports that there is one (1) new active cases of COVID-19 in the northern portion of the community as of Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020. An additional two have recovered, therefore the total active cases is at seven (7). There have now been 27 cases overall since the beginning of the pandemic. Twenty cases are categorized as recovered.
MCA extends its best wishes for a speedy recovery to all those infected, as well as appreciation to those isolating and quarantining to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
MCA’s Department of Health advises community members to restrict social gatherings to household members only. Consider alternative ways to connect with family for holiday celebrations and meals. When essential encounters are unavoidable, ask if the individual has travelled outside the radius or if they’ve recently been sick. Always be sure to wear a mask and maintain six feet/two metres of distance when in public. MCA requires anyone travelling outside the 100-mile/160 km radius to quarantine for 14 days to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
If you need to be tested for COVID-19, please make an appointment with MCA’s Community Health Program by calling 613-575-2341 ext. 3220. Community members can also access free testing through the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe. Check their website, www.srmt-nsn.gov, for testing dates.
