MCA WELCOMES NEW DIRECTOR OF INFRASTRUCTURE, HOUSING & ENVIRONMENT
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne (MCA) welcomed Lorri (Lorraine) Bova as the new director of the Department of Infrastructure, Housing & Environment (DIHE) as of March 22, 2021.
The department was created in 2020 with the merging of the former Dept. of Technical Services, Dept. of Housing and Environment Program. The position was first vacated with the passing of longtime DTS Director Jay Benedict who is still missed by the department and organization.
Ms. Bova brings extensive experience and knowledge, as well as familiarity with MCA. She previously served as the program manager for the MCA Water/Wastewater Program for thirteen years. She also has experience working for Six Nations as the Public Works engineer, the Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation as the water & wastewater engineer, and the Assembly of First Nations as the special advisor on water.
Ms. Bova has a master’s degree and a Professional Engineering license in civil engineering.
As the new director, Ms. Bova’s goals are to provide services such as clean drinking water, efficient wastewater services, quality roads services, proper maintenance of MCA facilities, and effective housing and environment programs for the community and territory.
