On behalf of the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of former Canadian Senator Murray Sinclair. His passing is a profound loss not only to those who knew him personally but to all who were touched by his tireless advocacy for Indigenous rights and justice.

Murray Sinclair’s legacy as a trailblazer for truth and reconciliation will forever be remembered. His work as the Chief Commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada brought to light the painful truths of our history and paved the way for healing and understanding. His dedication to justice, fairness, and the upliftment of Indigenous peoples has left a lasting impact on First Nations across Turtle Island.

We honour his memory and commit to continuing the work and difficult conversations he so passionately championed. May his spirit guide us as we strive for a future of equality, respect, and reconciliation.

In solidarity and sorrow, we share our sympathies to all who knew and loved Murray Sinclair.
