MOHAWK COUNCIL TO HOST SECOND INFORMATION SESSION ON COMMUNITY POLICING
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne (MCA) will be hosting a second live information session on community policing following the initial session that was held in August 2020. The MCA and Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) decided to host these sessions after receiving inquiries from the community regarding policing in Akwesasne and to share information with the entire community.
The meeting’s guests/hosts are: Grand Chief Abram Benedict, Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) Chief of Police Shawn Dulude, Akwesasne Mohawk Police Commission Chairperson Gary Cole, and District Chiefs Connie Lazore, Vanessa Adams and Darryl Lazore (Public Safety portfolio chiefs).
Information will be provided about AMPS processes, complaints, policies, and responsibilities for policing in the community. The panel will be present responses to questions that have been previously posed by email and during the first community police session.
The meeting will take place on the MCA Facebook Page on September 28, 2020 at 6 p.m. You must have a Facebook account to view the live video; however, it will be shared on the MCA YouTube page and website after the meeting as well.
The community is encouraged to join us to learn more about policing in Akwesasne.
