MCA Hosting Boston Bruins Alumi For Exciting Double Header Hockey Event

TERRITORY OF AKWESASNE - On December 6, 2014 the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Tehotiiennawakon Department invites the public to an exciting event for all hockey fans as the Boston Bruins Alumni take on our own Akwesasne Mohawks hockey team on Akwesasne ice. It will be an entertaining and thrilling event for all hockey fans as our local players take on former NHL players all for the love of hockey.

Last year, MCA hosted a similar event featuring the Montreal Canadiens Alumni and hockey fans wanted more of these exciting events to be held. This year the ticket is a double header, with the main Boston Bruins Alumni game beginning at 4 p.m. and a second game of hockey between the Akwesasne Jr. B Wolves and the Brockville Tiki’s beginning at 7 p.m.  Both games will be played at the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena on Kawehno:ke (Cornwall Island).

Players on the line-up for the Boston Bruin Alumni team are Ray Bourque, Bob Sweeney, Bruce Shoebottom, Bruce Crowder, Tim Sweeney, Jay Miller, Tom Fergus, Reggie Lemelin, Ken Linseman, Rick Smith, John Wensink, Terry O’Reilly and Captain - Rick Middleton, Coached by Brian Goodleaf and Trainer Charlotte McDonald

The line- up for the Akwesasne Mohawks includes: Nathan Sunday, Tyler Sunday, Carey Terrance, Randy Connors, Adam Thompson, Steven Thomas Jr., Scott “Butter” Thompson, Owen Swamp, Casey Swamp, Josh Jacobs, Roddy McKenzie, Mark Thomas, Ian Mitchell, DeCota Thompson, and Dan Garrow. Coaches are Floyd Lahache and Mac Thomas.

So mark the date, December 6th at the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena as the Boston Bruins Alumni team takes on the Akwesasne Mohawks!  Also: The Akwesasne Jr. B Wolves will take to the ice against Brockville Tiki’s; the Akwesasne Novice team will play in the last five minutes of the second period against the Bruins Alumni’s; local certified referees will be Colten Oakes-Cook, Tyrell Thomas, Jacobs Cook, Dominic Coyle and Dilion Barr; fifteen Akwesasne youth skaters will perform a power skate routine during the Flag presentation at the beginning of the game; and Kwaharani Jacobs of Kahnawake will sing the National Anthems. 

 

Additional Activities:

The Akwesasne Minor Hockey Association and Akwesasne Jr. B Wolves will be running various fundraisers, such as chuck-a-puck, 50/50 raffles, Krispy Kreme doughnut sales and more.  The arena will be selling a wide variety of souvenirs, along with a game event program that will include a chance to win a pair of NHL hockey tickets to the Boston Bruins vs. Ottawa Senators game in Ottawa on March 10, 2015.

Tickets are now on sale for $25.00 in advance, and can be purchased at the following businesses: Akwesasne Sports, A’nowara’ko:wa Arena, and the MCA Economic Development office. You can also purchase tickets from any player from the Akwesasne Jr. B Wolves and the Akwesasne Minor Wolves. 

Buy your tickets in advance for $25.00; tickets at the door will cost $30.00.

There are still two “Thrill of a Lifetime” spots for sale for $1500.00 each. Play forward or defense with the Boston Bruins Alumni Team!

Meet & Greet tickets are also on sale for $25.00 to meet with the Boston Bruins Alumni and Akwesasne Mohawks after the games in the Winter Ball Room at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino.   You can also dine with both hockey teams in the Winter Ball Room with a delicious traditional meal.
