Warming Stations Available In Akwesasne Due To Cold And Frigid Temperatures

Due to the cold and frigid temperatures expected over this long holiday weekend, the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Emergency Measures Program has placed the Ahkwesasne Mohawk Board of Education (AMBE) schools in the Districts of Kana:takon, Kawehno:ke and Tsi Snaihne on standby should residents require warming stations due to power outage, pipe breaks or heating problems.
Should you or your family require access to these warming stations, please do not hesitate to contact Emergency Measures directly to ensure that your district warming station can be opened. As a precautionary measure:
If your department or program is a host for a Winter Carnival event this weekend, we respectfully request you that have a set of jumper cables readily available should a community member require assistance starting their vehicle.
