New Ontario Energy Support Program Continuing To Accept Applications

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne would like to inform the community that every Friday during the month of March, Kawehno:ke (Cornwall Island) District Chiefs will be available to assist Akwesasne residents wishing to apply for the New Ontario Energy Support Program (OESP). The OESP is available for residents of the Ontario portion of Akwesasne only (Kawehno:ke). Chiefs will be set up at the CIA #3 Building on Kawehno:ke in the small room adjacent to the Office of Vital Statistics (OVS). They will be available between 2 p.m.-4 p.m. to assist with OESP applications.
In addition, the ONWAA (Ontario Native Welfare Administrator's Association) have an ONWAA Energy satellite office located on the Batchewanna Bay, FN and will be open until July 22, 2016. ONWAA representatives can be reached by calling 1-844-885-3157 for any and all inquiries regarding the Ontario Energy Support Program. As for the applications, you can apply anytime and are encouraged to do so on-line as the best way to apply.
For customers that have not filed an income tax return recently, or if their situation has changed since last filing, there are agencies throughout the province of Ontario that can help with applications. A full list of intake agencies, searchable by region, is available at OntarioElectricitySupport.ca or AideElectriciteOntario.ca. This list will be kept up-to-date as more intake agencies are fully on-board.
