PURSUIT LEADS TO ARREST & DRUG POSSESSION
On September 16, 2019 at approximately 8:20 AM, Akwesasne Mohawk Police received information of a possible impaired driver in the district of Tsi Snaihne, QC.
The vehicle was reported to be driving on the roadway without a front passenger side tire, and driving on the rim. Police located the suspect vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop for police and proceeded into the United States.
The St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police later reported that the suspect vehicle returned to Tsi Snaihne after a brief pursuit in the United States. The vehicle was located by police abandoned in a field on McDonald Road.
Akwesasne Central Dispatch later received information the driver of the suspect vehicle was attempting to gain entry into a residence in Tsi Snaihne. Police attended the residence and located the suspect in a back bedroom. A search of the immediate area revealed a controlled substance(s) and drug paraphernalia.
Kiannah Thomas-Lazore, 20 years old of Akwesasne, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
• Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
• Flight from Police
• Unlawfully in Dwelling-House
• Possession of a Controlled Substance
