ELDER SERVICES TO PARTICIPATE IN ‘SAVED BY THE BEEP’ CAMPAIGN TO ASSIST ELDERLY WITH HOME SMOKE ALARMS
The MCA Department of Health’s (DOH) Elder Services is informing the community that they will be participating in the “Saved by the Beep” campaign. This campaign is an Ontario-wide initiative to inform community members on the importance of having working smoke alarms in your home. September 28th is also National Test Your Smoke Alarm Day.
Any elders in the northern portion of Akwesasne that need assistance in checking your smoke alarm can call Elder Services, and their Minor Home Maintenance Worker can stop by and check your smoke alarm for you.
Elder Services will be running a draw for any elders to win 1 of 4 carbon monoxide detectors. To win, stop in at the Elder Services table at any of the scheduled MCA Open Houses on September 16th, 17th, and 21st to enter. Or, any elder who books an appointment with the Elder Services Minor Home Maintenance Worker will also be entered into the drawing.
