SWEARING-IN CEREMONY HELD FOR KAWEHNO:KE DISTRICT CHIEF VINCE THOMPSON

On Thursday, September 14, the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne (MCA) held a swearing-in ceremony for Vince Thompson, the re-elected District Chief of Kawehno:ke. Chief Thompson was elected through a by-election held on September 2, 2023 for the district of Kawehno:ke.

 

Chief Thompson was sworn in by Justice of the Peace Alexandra David at the Kawehno:ke Recreation Center with family, Council and community members. He was welcomed back through speeches given by Acting Executive Director Tessa Jocko, Kana:takon District Chief Julie Phillips-Jacobs, and Kawehno:ke District Chief Edward Roundpoint.
