REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL: BASKET MAKING INSTRUCTOR

OVERVIEW

Thompson Island Cultural Camp, operated by the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, is seeking proposals from experienced basket-making instructors to lead workshops for groups of up to 30 students.

 

SCOPE OF WORK

The selected instructor will:

  • Provide all necessary materials for participants.
  • Teach a basket-making workshop suitable for beginners, ensuring the basket can be completed in one day.
  • Travel to Thompson Island Cultural Camp (transportation will be provided).
  • Have meals provided during the workshop.
  • Have the option to stay overnight at the camp.

WORKSHOP DATES

Workshops are planned for the following dates, with potential for additional sessions:

  • May 27
  • June 3
  • June 10
  • July 8

PROPOSAL SUBMISSION

Interested instructors should submit a proposal including:

  1. Experience & Qualifications – Brief background in basket making and teaching.
  2. Workshop Plan – Description of the basket to be made, estimated timeline, and required materials.
  3. Budget – Cost for instruction and materials for 30 participants.
  4. Availability – Preferred date(s) from the listed options.
